In my area, we have a ton of ash trees, many of which, are dying slowly due the emerald ash borer. Have you heard anything about using ash leaves in an aquarium? Also have a maple sappling that was broken in half in a storm a couple weeks ago. I stripped a lot of leaves off and have them in an open tote drying. Most of those leaves were quite crispy, but majorly still green. I dont know if they will ever brown. Could I still use the maple leaves that are green, but very dry, if I boil them?

It's interesting how failed planted tanks give you more experience than your successful ones. That kill signal from the plant is really interesting. Thanks.

planaria do the same as snails. They have slim that is for stunning smaller spices so they can catch something to eat. But the strength of it is really not that great. That's why they have a poor catch rate of shrimp. It can only stun fry of shrimp (what I know of).

I like these LFS tours! We have a pretty good scene in LA. But the OC and SD REALLY have an awesome aquarium scene. I think they have more active clubs down there too. I was wondering when you were going to flare and saw it immediately. I'm so sorry. You might have picked it up at the conference. I'm having a massive flare and can barely walk. The fetal position is my go to. Then I listen to past posts of you and anything of interest and try to distract myself. I get up and drag myself to the tanks and it helps. Did you know that you go into a different brainwave when you interact with animals? COVID and Influenza A is running rampant in South Africa too. This too shall pass. I think you should have pointed out wich messure could have helpt to prevent algea to occur such as floating plant.as for your carpeting plants ,put those in when the tank is stable enough to take the floating plants out.that would be the point when all the other plant are fully grown .but do not take it out al at once .do it step by step over a longer period and dont trim all the plants at the same time .do one plant a day.everythink to keep it stable.

Any ideas of a cheap way to make a light screen? Something similar anyway. I like them a lot but way expensive.... I bought my Golden White Clouds there and they are doing great now for almost a year. It's a small store but very well kept in all ways.

I have learned that if you can go to a river or creek and get a nice rock or wood or whatever from the water and some decaying leaves and put them in your tank all the natural bacteria will dissolve the dead fish and keep everything in place while also feeding your fish. I even once tried it with a little conditioner and put creek substrate and leaves and a piece of driftwood and two tiny minnow in it. I watched it for a few days and saw little creatures swimming about and the fish eating some of those little creatures. If you can get your tank just right you won’t even need to feed your fish. If you want much better info on how I do it I learned from father fish. And the little creatures and if you get a few fish will take care of the algae

Even a 100 gal aquarium is a very tiny envoronment with a fragile ecosystem which hold it's balance almost by miracle. Every bit of change you do in there has drastic consequences so it must be done over a certain period of time. Instant gratification do not go well with the hobby. It is more like a never ending journey from which you do learn a little bit of something every day. I have this comunity tank from which I took out 12 HUGE platy females because they grown so much it was begining to feel very overcrowded in there. The day after I've done that, the water, decors, glasses and plants all became very dirthy. Now I know why those platy where getting so fat so quick. They where eating all the dead plants and algaes keeping the tank clean a.f. Everything you do in there has consequences. Think of it like a giant ripping the roof of your house to "rescape" your furnitures, walls and windows every now and then. Sometimes feeding you only meat, sometimes nothing at all and you wouldn't choose when the lights goes off... Yeah... better take your time, your little friends will thank you for that.

While the dandelion is looked at as medicinal to some it overgrows on turtle island and kills the real medicine me and my homies hate this invasive little bastard even though we eat it. Awesome video.
